read it then sum it up to your partner who must then be able to answer the teacher's questions.
scorn = mépriser
a predicament = a fate = a situation
They have 5 daughters so they will not inherit the estate as only a male heir can inherit.
Mr Bingley came to rent an estate next to the Bennet's family. He is young nd wealthy.he is not bad-looking either and we might even say that he is dashing(qui a grande allure)
Mr Darcy is a good friend of Mr Bingley. He is snobbish, proud and scornful(méprisant) = spiteful= disdainful .
Mr Bingley and Jane grow close= they have a crush = they fall in love.
Mr Wickham is an officer, Darcy behaved badly towards him.
Mr Darcy tried to separate Mr Bingley and Jane. He believes Jane is after Mr Bingley's money= she is hypocritical.
Lady Catherine De Bourgh is a scornful, spiteful lady, she is noble,she belongs to the upper class.
WATCHING A SCENE
The rain symbolizes romanticism.

The wetness incarnates the senses.
The wet hair illustrates sensuality.
The greek temple is dedicated to love.
He is proposing despite the inferioty of her birth. She refuses him, rejects him. She accuses him of ruining her sister's hapiness in separating her from Mr Bingley. He blames her family.She accuses him of being conceited, prejudiced and snobbish.
homework :
1) read the biography of jane austen and sum it up.memorize only the basic facts
2)read the summary of pride and prejudice and be able to tell us the basic events in the story
3) remember the scene that we have watched between mr Darcy and Elisabeth and learn the vocabulary.
