STEP 1 WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A PERMANENT JOB ?  

 - you receive a regular salary and thus you can ask for a loan ( un pret) at the bank 

you cannot be fired= kicked out = laid off = made redudant = made unemployed without a valid reason 

you benefit from a holiday pay ( des congés payés) 

you contribute to your pension fund = retirement fund ( votre retraite) 

moreover if you are sick you receive sick pay paid by the NHS ( National Health service)  

 

STEP 2 WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A GIG WORK ? OF BEING A GIG WORKER? 

There are very few benefits as you receive NO HOLIDAY PAY, NO PENSION FUND, NO SICK PAY , NO REGULAR SALARY .

on the other hand a GIG job  offers you FLEXIBILITY  and the ability to work freelance.

Besides you have more leisure time and you can be your own boss.

Finally it allows you to go back to university and study or train 

But also to try different jobs = occupations

In the UK it's estimated that five million people are employed in this type of capacity.

Jobs include couriers, ride-hailing drivers and video producers.

Proponents( people in favor of)  of the gig economy claim that people can benefit from flexible hours, with control over how much time they can work as they juggle other priorities in their lives.

In addition, the flexible nature often offers benefits to employers, as they only pay when the work is available, and don't incur staff costs when the demand is not there.

Meanwhile, workers in the gig economy are classed as independent contractors.

That means they have no protection against unfair dismissal, no right to redundancy ( = unemployment) payments, and no right to receive the national minimum wage, paid holiday or sickness pay.
