CORRECTION
Introduction : ( remarquer comme je présente les deux documents ensemble dès le début ) THE DOCUMENTS THAT WE WERE GIVEN DISPLAY / show TWO WELLKNOWN SIGHTS , ONE BEING THE NIAGARA FALLS IN CANADA AND THE OTHER ONE THE COLISEUM IN ROME.
DESCRIPTION
As we can notice = spot = glimpse = catch a sight of the crowds have been flocking to (to flock to = se précipiter vers en msse) see these renowned landmarks.
Since they have come en masse the flock looms big ( to loom big = prendre de la place / apparaitre en gros) in the first document while they are diminutive/ very small in the second and seem to be overpowered = crushed by the roman ruins.
Still we might guess = we might surmise = we might infer that all of these holidaymakers are bowled over by the magnificence of the scene.
But while one is a natural wonder ( merveille) the other one is manmade and might lead us to be astounded by the ingenuity of the human race.
ANSWERING THE QUESTION
Therefore we might wonder « why the people have decided to go sightseeing in these places, »
Some might have been coming for the sheer/ simple spectacle of these feast for the eyes.( a feast for the eyes = un plaisir pour les yeux)
Others might enjoy bragging about ( to brag about something = craner )all the places they have seen.
Finally some might have wished to admire with their own eyes such world famous sights and maybe learn a bit more about the way they came to exist/ how they appeared.
I, myself, have visted both places and i have to confess i was flabbergasted by both their beauties.
The niagara falls are impressive by its sheer scale while the coliseum is stunning due to its history and the countless anecdotes you hear recounted = told once there.
