What consequences did the father's job have on the life of his family ?

Consequently, the all family had to move out.
As a consequence, he had to adjust to a new place.
Hence, he felt out of place/ill-at-ease.
So he feels lonely. He experiences loneliness. Thus he is staying amid/ among strangers.
