- As a consequence, she can't dance
- Consequently, she has a poor (= bad) health
 Thus, she can't put on sexy clothes

For the audience ,her talent does not matter.
Her appearance is the most important so people or audience mock her/ laugh at her

Analyse du texte 1 «I am who I am »

The text deals (=traiter de ...) with Michelle MacManus. She is critical of television and the image they impose on us. She is overweight but she doesn't care. She refuses to go on a diet=slim anymore. She has won pop idol which is a reality TV show where young performers contest to prove their talent. The text is set in Great .Britain. She herself must be from Scotland. Her victory took place in 2003. She accepts herself as she is. I am who I am is her motto(=devise). But the audience thinks she is too fat and that she has no star material(have star material = avoir l'étoffe d'une star) Michelle is doing a campaign(a fight / a crusade =une croisade) against television and the image it imposes on us .

Michelle McManus' wishes

She wishes every body accepted her as she is.
She would rather more fat people were on TV
If only she won the campaign against TV
It's (high) time the audience listened to her voice
