TRANSCRIPT

Let us turn to Artificial Intelligence  because the International Monitory Funds  WARNED…………… that 40……………percent of all jobs around the world will be AFFECTED………………. by AI.

It says the effect is even more pronounced  in the  DEVELOPED……………….. world where 60……………. percent of roles will be …IMPACTED…………..

According to the IMF , half of us will …BENEFIT FROM……………….. higher productivity .But for the other half, the …RISE…/ SURGE/ GROWTH ……………… of AI could see lower …SALARIES EARNINGS/PAYS/WAGES/ INCOMES =REVENUES……………, reduce ……HIRING…………. and even some jobs ………DISAPPEARING…………. all together.

And it increases inequality potentially ……WITHIN ……………society and between rich and poor nations.

STEP 7 FIND THE CONSEQUENCES OF AI ON THE JOB MARKET

HOW DO YOU TRANSLATE : en consequence ………………../donc ……………….

 SO = therefore = thus

 as a consequence = as a result = consequently

STEP 8 WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF AI ?

THE PROS AND CONS OF AI

 THE PROS

1.     It can make fewer errors

2.     It can work 24 /7

3.     It can analyse large sets of data very fast

4.     It can replace workers and thus it reduces the labour costs

5.     It never goes on strike

6.     It increases productivity

7.     It is more intelligent than humans

THE CONS

1.it lacks creativity so it needs to use what humans have created first

2.it reduces employment and thus it kills jobs

3. it has no morals so it may lead to moral dilemna

4. it can be used to deceive people

5. it can be used to create deepfake images  on porn sites

6. it might take over the world

THE PROS AND CONS OF AI

THE ADVANTAGE OF AI IS THAT IT CAN ANALYSE LARGE SETS OF DATA

THE SHORTCOMINGS OF AI IS THAT IT LACKS CREATIVITY AND RELIES ON WHAT HUMANS HAVE CREATED

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF AI IS THAT IT CAN CREATE CREATIVITY

AI IS AN ASSET BECAUSE IT IS MORE INTELLIGNET THAN HUMAN

THE DRAWBACK OF AI IS THAT IT CAN BE USED TO DECEIVE PEOPLE

THE DANGERS OF AI

AT this factory on the…OUTSKIRTS……………. of shankai , the robots are taking over .

The …FACILITIES …………..belong to cambridge university group and i am here to see how ………MANUFACTURING ……….work which has been done by hand for years is increasingly being…AUTOMATED ………………

This robot moves circuitboards destined for networking equipment from a…CONVEYOR ……………. to a machine that test them for defects.

The robots then puts the board back on the conveyor moving it to another part of the …FACTORY ………………

Most robots work on……PRODUCTION LINE ………….

But several like the one playing a cheerful tune here will carry components along different machines around the facility .

Some corners of the cavenous factory whereAUTOMATION …………… is taking hold are eerily …DEVOID OF ……………human workers.

A similar pattern is happening across china as rising wages and an increasingly aspirational workforce cause manufacturers to invest in more and more robots.

That’s because China ……CANNOT AFFORD TO …………see its manufacturing industry disappear so companies like CUG are…………. on robots for tasks that were previously done by humans.RELYING

As you can see here even delicate work such as soldering components on circuit boards is now done by robots.

This kind of dexterity is remarkably difficult for robots. But firms like COG are showing that it is possible.

The shangai-based company plans on having an …ALMOST ……….. entirely automated factory within a couple of years.

And the goal for 2016 is to reduce the workforce by two thirds.

Other manufacturers in China are making a similar SHIFT …………towards robots.

How successful they are will determined noyt only China’s economic future but also the health of the global  economy.

Today many young people in China would prefer to work in retail or restaurants or in more ……SKILLED ……. and lucrative jobs than in a factory.

But with over a hundred million people in China still employed in manufacturing  the country’s robot revolution will be dramatic.
