INTRODUCTION

 The document that we were given to scrutinize today was  first issued in the guardian , a broadsheet newspaper but also a website.

 Its author is colman o’sullivan who is a fairly anonymous journalist but judging by his name of irish descent/ origin.

 The paper/ article is entitled …Activists ….

A careful reading  of the text reveals / allows us to understand ( nous permet de comprendre) that the text focuses on RETAILING  and more precisely the conflict that opposes Air band b and Dublin ‘s inhabitants.( habitants)

To study this text i will first sum up the facts .

In a second time I will focus on the pros and cons of the air band b platform.

Finally i will endeavour/ try to find some solutions to the problem to conclude with my opinion.

So let us do so without furtherado.

SUMMARY  inspired by mr Noham

The text first explains that activists from the « Take back the city » movement decided to occupy the Airband b office in Dublin.

They are protesting against the platform which offers short stay rentals ( location à courte durée) to tourists.

The organisation is demanding (to demand =  exiger) a total ban on the platform which incites owners to create holiday lets( locations )  instead of renting their properties to Dublin’s citizens .

This phenomenon which is not unique to Dublin has led to a housing crisis as there are not enough properties to be rented by local inhabitants.

Thus the rents ( les loyers) have soared = increased making impossible for ordinary citizens to find a place to live in the city centers.

As there are not enough places available , most natives / residents have to go and live pretty far from their workplace thus draining (siphonner) their wages/ resources.

At that stage i would like to discuss the pros and cons of our main topic/ subject .

THE CONS OF AIR BNB  Not to get along with ( get along with= bien s’entendre avec) The host = the person that welcomes you Not to be comfy = not to be comfortable No privacy Dangerous = risky the property does not match the description throw people off their home destroy the local community increase rents limit the number of rentals for local inhabitants increase tourism and its nuisance damage the environment

 

Air b and b offers multiple advantages such as( tel que )  the possibility of renting  from one room to a full house.Indeed their side is quite convenient ( pratique) as it lists all sorts of properties.

Thanks to them,( grâce à eux)  you can benefit from a host guarantee program, meet people from around the world and save ( économiser) money.

As a matter of fact ( en effet) , the plus of air band b is that it is most of the time less expensive than a hotel.

On the other hand ( d un autre côté) , the drawback of air b and b is that sometimes the properties do not match ( correspondre à ) the description.

Moreover it throws people off their home as a downside is that it increases ( augmenter) rents.

Let me conclude by saying that a downside of air b and b is that it does increase tourism which might turn up to ( se révéler être) be a nuisance.

CONCLUSION

In a nutshell we might add that ( on peut ajouter que )  this text tackles (traite de)  the topic of mass tourism which is both a boon for a country as it brings in revenues but a disaster for its people who have to abandon their homes or face growing costs. ( to face = faire face à / growing = croissant/ costs = des couts)

In my opinion, this ad isabout a new feauture / function of the Apple smartphone.

It consists in translating immediately what someone is saying to be understaood by another person opposite them who does not speak the same language.

So it provides the customers with an immediate translation of what you are saying.

8.    Still, even at this early stage, live translation in your pocket could encourage millions of people to travel more often, and more widely.

First, this text is about the new apple ´s function which  consits in translating what we say in a language in another one.a Variety of language can be translated on this application. Next, They say that this new technology will help people to ask something in a language that they are not speaking and can encourage people  to travel more with this application.Still, this new technology is not perfect 

 

The document deals with  the newest Apple Feature on the brand new AirPods Pro 3 which is a real-time translation with the AI in many languages. it allows us to understand that the feature is useful during the interactions with people from different languages since it translates the conversation directly in your  ears and the transcription appears on their phone screen .

The new live translation feature from Apple offers has  mutiple advantages such as the possibility to learn languages. 

Thanks to that you can benefit from a good translation in the countries and thus you do not need to study which is not always possible , whereas you can now learn from anywhere .

Real-time translation has advantages and disadvantages.

It helps people travel more easily because they can talk without any language barriers. It also saves time and more people can visit other countries. It shows that technology and AI are improving.

However it is not perfect. Translations can be wrong sometimes. People might stop learning new languages. Also, machines can’t understand emotions, tone, or gestures. Because of this, conversations can feel less natural and less human.

The pros and cons of the New ai of Apple 

The pros :

    -that New ai permits people  who do not talk a language to  go in a country where they would  not go otherwise  because they  do not speak  the language.

    -that allows  somebody to make  some friends from another country 

    -that allows the technology to grow each year .
