 AMAZON GENERATES MILLIONS OF POUNDS OF PLASTIC WASTE
 

INTRODUCTION
 The document that i intend to study today is entitled …………………………….
It was publihsed on December the fifteenth two thousand and twenty on the newspaper THE VERGE .
I have to confess i know nothing about this newspaper as i am rather familiar with other regular broadsheets such as the guardian or the Times.
But the  text no doubt deals with the pollution generated/ created by Amazon and more precisely the plastic its customers dumps .
I will first try to sum up the content of this text.
Then i will attempt at studying the  root causes of the pollution  produced by the International corporation.
In a second time I will endeavour to find the impact of  that pollution on  the environment.
Finally i will end my report on a list of solutions that might be useful to save our planet.
That will bring me to my conclusion in which i will voice my opinion on the topic at large.
So why not start right now.

SUMMARY
 The text starts by stating that  a non profit organisation has published a report indicating that Amazon is  responsible / answerable for 465 million pounds of plastic litter .
This waste comes mainly from the packaging that Amazon uses  to ship / deliver its products .
Amazon denies = rejects the figures and declares  that it actually produces one quarter of what Oceana accuses it to do .
Oceana which is the name of the non profit organisation or Charity claims ( revendiquer) that if it is the case the pollution brought on by Amazon is still enormous.
Plastic is said to be extremely useful for companies.
But on the other hand it is hugely polluting especially when it ends up in the sea.
It is harmful to sea animals who eat it and thus to humans who eat sea products.
Oceana is all the more worried as they have noticed that more and more people shop on line and thus they fear that plastic packaging is going to skyrocket = increase dramatically .
Still Amazon has decided to take some measures to limit the trash they produce .
For instance they now have decided to send the items in their orginal packaging instead of re-wrapping them in even more plastic and cardboard.( carton)
But Oceana is not convinced.It might consider that Amazon is only doing some greenwashing here .( Greenwashing is when a company pretends to do something for the environment while continuing to pollute )
Now let me proceed with my  second part.

CONCLUSION :
To conclude i have to confess that i am glad that some charities are vigilant  and are holding some major corporations accountable ( to hold someone accountable for ..) for their polluting impact on the world.
And yet  I believe that we should all act by first reducing our consumption of goods and especially on line.
But will we ever be ready to forsake  ( abandonner) ecommerce to save the planet ?
