THE TOPIC DEALT WITH IN THE PLAY
Comparing two extracts
Conclusion: On the one hand Mr Birling displays a crass/rude lack of concern for anyone else apart from his family and himself claiming that no one has to look after the other members of the society and that everyone receives according to his worth.Poverty can thus be explained by your own personal sins.
On the other hand, Inspector Goole views society as a body in which each member is responsible for everyone else so where solidarity is essential.
Here we have two contrasting social views which are the basis of the two predominant political credoes of the twentieth century : Mr Birling symbolizes/ incarnates capitalism whereas Inspector Goole embodies Socialism that will lead to the creation of the welfare state after the war thus giving ground to Inspector Goole 's theory.

AT THE END OF THE PLAY THE SON IS EXASPERATED BY HIS PARENTS AND WULD LIKE THEM TO KNOW THE SAME FATE AS EVA SMITH.Imagine what he could do to them?

we could stab them in the back
or plunge a kinfe in their heart
or pull their eyes out of their sockets
or push them down the stairs
or pull them apart = dismember them
or give them an overdose
or drown them
