BOLLYWOOD : a portemanteau of the name Bombay and Hollywood.
it designates the type of films made in India.
the genre conventions are that those films are musicals with catchy (prenante) music woven (weave = tisser) with song and dance numbers. The plots comprise most of the time love triangles, comedy and dare-devil (dare= audacieux) thrills = sensations.
The characters are heroes fighting villains. They are all stock characters ( a stock character = un cliché/ un archétype). The story lines contain formulaic ingredients such as star-crossed lovers and angry parents.
recently the genre is getting westernised using urbanites ( people living in cities) dancing and dating in clubs.
