 Why did the Almericans get involved?
 they got involved since they wanted to prevent the communists from the Northern part of Vietnam from invading/ taking control over the southern part.

No they failed and had to withdraw leading to the collapse of the South .

-What were the consequences at home?
As a result/ as a consequence/ consequently America was torn apart.
It gave rise to a strong opposition at home
