a)Imagine the physical portrait of the two characters
She seems to have long brown hair .She is said to have grey eyes and a white complexion.
We might guess that she is more than beautiful as Armad fell in love with her at first sight and married her without questioning her dubious origins.

Armand on the other hand must embody the typical plantation master, imperious and demanding.
He must be quite dashing as well as his wife is doting on him.We might venture to say that he is quite tall with long eye lashes.He might be carrying a superbe moustache.He might be fit and well-built.I have no doubt that his skin is pale white.

b)Read the text again and sum up the events :
desiree is an orphan
she married her neighbour armand
they had a son
in growing up the son turned out to have negro features
From the blissful atmosphere of the beginning, Désirée realized with dread that her happiness was threatened because her husband had suddenly discovered that she was mixed blood.
