READING THE TEXT :Global understanding
Désirée is married to Armand Aubigny.Together they have a son.They live on a huge plantation called La Blanche.Armand is the owner of the property.
Désirée was adopted by white planters living in Valmondé so her origins are quite obscure.Nevertheless Armand fell madly in love with her without once questioning her origins.
But one day désirée realized that her son had negro features by comparing it to one of the servant boys who was a slave on the plantation.Armand then decided to ask her to leave the plantation with her bastard.
