he is called /named Henry Drake and he has embarked on a boat heading to/ directed towards the USA.
The name of the ship is the Reliance which means that you can count on her.
he pretends he is coming from London.
he is eventually / in the end is admitted on the American soil (sol)
he claims/ declares that he is single (célibataire)
he relates/tells us about /recounts his arrival on Ellis Island.
On his arrival he is compelled/ he is forced/is made to go through a literacy test .
