Vocabulary :
bustling with life = full of life
quite hectic and animated /lively
harm(endommager)
on the spot (sur le coup)
team one : document 1
black and white drawing,
tourism and holiday ,
stereotypes
town center
people visiting a city,
relaxing/ basking under the sun
advantages: entertainments, shops
inconveniences : noisy, pollution, a lot of tourists
author's aim : going on holidays in touristic places : no traditions/ no culture
BONUS : The author aims at denouncing the attitude of some of the tourists who are going abroad to unwind but take no interest in the local inhabitants and their culture. As we might infer from the documents, the holidaymakers are expecting the same amount of comfort that they might find at home.
Moreover, they wish to find the same form of entertainment everywhere they go regarless of the change of location.
Therefore tourist resorts look the same everywhere you go.We might add that this hints at the selfishness and narrow-mindedness of the tourists who take no interest whatsoever in the local people but are only concerned about their own pleasure.
We might find it difficult to see the point of travelling for miles to see the same sights you might see at home .
TEAM two : document two :
the scene takes place in florida, in december,
document in black and white
the topic is tourism
on the right hand side : wealthy tourists
on the left part : poor people
aim of the author : stressing the differences between poor and rich people
the author insists on the division between the two parts to really show the gap between them
florida is a nice place, you can go there with your friends your family, there are beautiful palm tree, bar, etc: such is what we might expect from a touristic brochure. But here the photographer is denouncing the camouflage, the lie by revealing the truth behind the appearances.
the author wants to show the selfishness of the tourists, they only see what they want to see and not the truth.
