1 There were 2 section section in the bus . One for the white and another one meant for (be meant for = être destiné à) the blacks . The white section was situated in the front whereas/while the black section was in the back and the blacks were not allowed to sit in the front

3 At this station some whites got in/ climbed up.There were no seats free
So the driver asked the blacks to stand up to leave their seats even if they were in the Black section.
It was inconceivable for the whites to be standing while some Blacks would be seated.
