TASK : Discovering the American Electoral process

A TEXT
Read the text and put the different steps back in order :

FIRST STEP : The candidate enter the race in each party

SECOND STEP : Each party organises primary elections in each state to choose the best candidate

THIRD STEP :The nominating convention in each party officially chooses a candidate. They choose a vice president as well and they create their program. This program is called the platform.

FOURTH STEP : The campaign against the candidate of the other party starts.

FIFTH STEP : It is the day of the general election when everybody votes.
A candidate who wins the majority of votes in one state wins all the electoral delegates of this state.

SIXTH STEP : The inauguration day at the white house where the president is officially nominated. He has to take an oath of allegiance and promises to serve the nation.

THE ELECTORAL DELEGATES: When a candidate wins in a state , he does not win a percentage of votes, he wins a number of delegates. When he wins he wins all the delegates of the state. That's what we call the winner-take-all system because he wins ALL the delegates even if he did not win all the votes. In the end , a candidate who has won 270 delegates has won.
The number of delegates per state is based on the number of people in the state.
